SYDNEY
ROSE
2022
This proposed project site is located on Rose street, in a very centralised location in the Chippendale precinct of Sydney. It sits in the heritage conservation area, and on the eastern side, we can find adjoining residences of heritage significance.
The built mass is designed in harmony with the existing buildings, the overall bulk aligns with the heritage buildings in context. The setbacks on the upper floors of the building respect the existing heritage developments. The design has a void in the middle, that helps in ensuring sufficient natural sunlight and can also serve as the secondary entrance to the site from Shepherd Lane.
The built mass is designed to create minimal impact on the neighboring residential buildings, this is achieved by significantly setting back the upper floors. The facade will be designed with sensitivity to the existing heritage residences, mimicking the scale and respecting the existing datums.
