Located in the north of Sydney, the suburb of Warriewood has several scenic locations with many beaches. The proposed townhouse development respects the surrounding neighbourhood through its architectural expression and sensitive treatment of public space, landscape and access. A clear understanding and use of building materials were made sensitively.
The design addresses the development’s central planning for leisure spaces by pushing buildings to the site edges, allowing each a distinct expression responding to the immediate context. Between the buildings, pedestrian links create flexible accessibility at all levels. Mature trees and ground cover occupy a generous portion of the site, further blending the development into the neighbourhood.
It was essential that the project blend with Warriewood's distinctive character, maintain the neighbourhood’s views and create new connections to the foreshore. Achieving this goal meant rethinking the potential future development. The massing breaks up the buildings into 2 blocks to increase public greenspace and connections throughout the site.
